Soledad Falabella is in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from March 25 until March 29 to participate in the joint advanced seminar of the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA). During the week CARTA doctoral fellows in the public health field will meet with their supervisors and other experts in their disciplines to learn and discuss in seminars, workshops and social events. Soledad will hold a face-to-face workshop with 25 young researchers and junior faculty, as well as with their academic supervisors, to launch ESE:O’s third academic writing course for CARTA fellows on ESE:O’s virtual campus.
ESE:O has been working since 2010 in the development and implementation of advanced writing workshops for African doctoral candidates in the field of public health. From April through November 2013 CARTA fellows will participate in an online workshop to develop their competency to write a critical review of the academic literature on their research topic (literature review). More than forty emerging African researchers in public health have benefited from this program since its commencement in 2011.
