Santiago, Chile: Renowned Mapuche-williche poet and artisan, Faumelisa Manquepillán, stars in the documentary television series “Mujeres Fuertes,” which aired on Sunday, March 5 on TVN. The documentary program, which follows the lives of 12 strong women living in Chile, features the life and work of Manquepillán, including her poetry, sculpture and work as a traditional Mapuche educator.

Currently residing in Puquiñe, Manquepillán is author of the bilingual book Sueños de Mujer / Pewma Zomo (2000), and has published her poems in Futawillimapu (2000), 20 Poetas mapuche contemporaneous (2003), La Memoria Iluminada (2007), Hilando en la Memoria (2006) and Hilando en la memoria, Epu rupa (2009). Manqupillán is contributor and researcher at ESE:O, and part of our longstanding network “Encuentro con Mujeres Mapuche.”
